Searching for a good doctor can be challenging. Most of us rely on recommendations from our family doctor or our friends and family. However, when you need a specialist, it isn’t always easy to get a good recommendation. Well, Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta is now publishing reviews and ratings for it’s doctors, so this will certainly help some people in their search.
Not only is it helpful to consumers during their search for a quality, reputable doctor, but it also provides an incentive for doctors to take good care of their patients. If doctors know they will be rated on how well they care for their patients, they are likely to do a better job. No one wants a bad review!
Currently, there is limited information available along these lines, but this trend is growing across all industries. Consumers want to be informed and equipped to make the best decisions when purchasing items or seeking professional advice and services.
There are other sources to find ratings and reviews for physicians and other healthcare professionals. One reliable source is www.kudzu.com and another is www.healthgrades.com. One of the nice things about Piedmont Hospitals rating system is that patients will be made aware of this opportunity to provide feedback. This system should result in numerous ratings. You just won’t find too many reviews for doctors on other websites.
When it comes to insurance companies, you can find ratings and reviews online, but it is difficult to determine which ones are legitimate. Often times, insurance companies will get glowing reviews from supposedly independent sources. However, I wouldn’t rely on these statistics. I deal with a lot of physicians, policyholders and experts in the insurance industry, so I have a good sense of which insurance carriers in Georgia are good…and ones that aren’t so good.
